Condoriri, Huayna Potosi & Illimani

Climbing Huayna Potosi

DESCRIPTION:
From La Paz, we head towards beautiful Lake Titicaca which, at 12.532ft / 3820m above sea level, is one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. We continue our journey eastwards to tranquil Condoriri Valley where we find our first base camp. On the shores of Laguna Chiar Kota, we prepare ourselves, surrounded by numerous mountains, for our first two objectives: Little Illusion (17.060ft / 5200m) and Little Alpamayo (17.618ft / 5370m).
Without leaving this region which holds some of the highest Andean peaks, we head towards Zongo Valley. An old mining road leads to Huayna Potosi Refuge where we will begin our third peak: Huayna Potosi (19.973ft / 6088m). Its majestic figure makes it one of the most beautiful and recognizable mountains in Bolivia.
One alternative that Nasqa Expeditions offers you is the possibility of including in the itinerary the highest mountain in the Cordillera Real: Illimani (21.125ft / 6439m). This mountain, with its omnipotent glacier that dominates the landscape of La Paz, is probably the most famous mountain in Bolivia.
